The Mumbai Indians (MI) jumped from eighth to third position in IPL 2023 points table after an emphatic win against the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on Tuesday, May 9. MI now have 12 points in their account after 11 matches in the league stage.

Heading into the home fixture against the Royal Challengers, Mumbai held the eighth spot in the standings. MI had earned 10 points from their first 10 matches, with their net run rate being -0.454.

On the other side, Bangalore also had 10 points in their account after 10 games, but they held the sixth position because of their net run rate of -0.209.


Royal Challengers Bangalore slip to 7th position in IPL 2023 points table

The Mumbai Indians beat the Royal Challengers Bangalore by six wickets last night at the Wankhede Stadium. Suryakumar Yadav and Nehal Wadhera starred in MI's win, registering a half-century each for the home side. Thanks to their contributions, Mumbai chased down a 200-run target in just 16.3 overs.

This big win has helped the Mumbai Indians add two points to their tally and boost their net run rate from -0.454 to -0.255. On the other side, the Royal Challengers have dropped to seventh spot. They have 10 points after 11 matches with a net run rate of -0.345.

The Lucknow Super Giants, Rajasthan Royals, Kolkata Knight Riders and Punjab Kings dropped a spot each as well courtesy of Mumbai Indians' rise.

The Delhi Capitals will square off against the Chennai Super Kings on Wednesday, May 10, in IPL 2023. If Delhi register a massive win, they can jump from 10th to seventh position.

Chennai Super Kings, on the other hand, are second right now. A win against DC will not change their position but it will strengthen their chances of a top four finish in the standings.
