India vs Sri Lanka 2024, 2nd ODI: Toss result and playing XIs for today's match, umpires list and pitch report

India will take on Sri Lanka in the second ODI at the R.Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on Sunday, August 4. The first match ended in a dramatic tie and both sides will be keen to clinch Sunday's contest and go 1-0 up in the three-match series.

Sri Lanka won the toss and batted first in the first ODI on Friday. The hosts lost half their side for 101, but Dunith Wellalage scored a composed 67* off 65 to lift the Lankans. There were some good contributions from the lower order as Sri Lanka recovered to post 230-8. The hosts, however, have been dealt a big blow as Wanindu Hasaranga has been ruled out of the remaining games due to injury.

In reply, skipper Rohit Sharma got India off to a brisk start, hitting 58 off 47 balls. However, Sri Lanka kept chipping away at the wickets to reduce the visitors to 132-5. They recovered well and needed one run to win with two wickets in hand. However, India failed to score one run needed for victory as the game was tied.

Sri Lanka have won the toss and opted to bat first. Charith Asalanka said:

“The pitch looks pretty same as the other day. I [we] want to do the same things as the last game.”

Sri Lanka have made two changes. Kamindu Mendis and Jeffrey Vandersay come in for Mohamed Shiraz and Hasaranga. India are going in with an unchanged XI.
