India beat Bangladesh by 86 runs in yesterday's T20I match at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. With the triumph, the Men in Blue took an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series. Sent into bat, India put up a huge total of 221-9 on the board and then held Bangladesh to 135-9.

The hosts got off to a poor start with the bat, losing three wickets for 41 runs inside the powerplay. Sanju Samson (10) punched a short-of-a-length delivery from Taskin Ahmed to mid-off. Abhishek Sharma (15) was then knocked over by a quick, wobble-seam delivery from Tanzim Hasan Sakib. Indian skipper Suryakumar Yadav (8) chipped one from Mustafizur Rahman to mid-off.

Nitish Kumar Reddy (74 off 34) and Rinku Singh (53 off 29) then featured in a scintillating 108-run stand for the fourth wicket. Both batters struck the ball cleanly. Reddy, playing in only his second T20I, clobbered four fours and as many as seven sixes. The youngster's fine knock ended when he miscued a cutter from Mustafizur to extra cover.

Rinku and Hardik Pandya (32 off 19) then added a brisk 36 for the fifth wicket. The former hammered five fours and three sixes in his half-century before pulling a short ball from Taskin Ahmed to the sweeper on the leg side. Pandya played a similar innings to the first T20I, cracking two fours and as many sixes.


Indian bowlers share the spoils as Bangladesh struggle

Set to chase 222, Bangladesh never got going. Parvez Hossain Emon (16) slammed three fours before dragging one from Arshdeep Singh back onto the stumps. Skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto (11) hit one to long-on off Washington Sundar's bowling. Litton Das (14) was then bamboozled by a googly from Varun Chakaravarthy and knocked over.

Bangladesh were four down for 46 when Towhid Hridoy (2) dragged a full ball from Abhishek onto the stumps. Mehidy Hasan Miraz (16) was caught in the deep following a failed attempt to take on Riyan Parag.

Jaker Ali (1) then pulled Mayank Yadav to the deep-square-leg fielder to leave the visitors in deep trouble at 83-6. A fighting knock from Mahmudullah (41 off 39) gave some stability to the innings.

Playing in only his second T20I, Reddy came up with an excellent all-round effort. After smashing 74 off 34, he picked 2-23 with his medium pace. Rinku contributed a whirlwind half-century. With the ball, leg-spinner Chakaravarthy again impressed with figures of 2-19.

Reddy was the easy choice for Player of the Match for his all-round brilliance.
