Veteran New Zealand pacer Trent Boult shared an emotional post on Instagram after playing his final T20I in the ongoing 2024 T20 World Cup. It has been a dismal campaign for the Kiwis as they crashed out from the group stage despite being one of the most consistent performers in ICC tournaments over the past decade.
New Zealand ended their journey in the 2024 T20 World Cup on a positive note with a clinical win against Papua New Guinea on Monday, June 17. Boult finished with excellent figures of 4-0-14-2.
Boult took to his official Instagram handle recently and shared a couple of pictures, reminiscing about his T20I career. He reflected on the on-field moments spent with his long-standing teammates Kane Williamson and Tim Southee, with whom he has been playing since age group cricket.
"Time flys!! Who would’ve thought the game we played as young kids would take us this far. Great to look back on some memories with @kane_s_w & @tim_southee 🇳🇿" Boult wrote.

During a recent conversation with the reporters, Trent Boult confirmed that the 2024 T20 World Cup was his last ICC tournament in the shortest format. The left-arm pacer also fondly remembered the memorable on and off-field partnership with Tim Southee over the years, saying:
"Speaking on behalf of myself, this will be my last T20 World Cup. I look at the partnership with Tim with very fond memories. We bowled a lot of overs together. I know the partnership very well, and obviously he's a very good friend on and off the ground. It was nice to wind back the clock a little bit and see a bit of swing bowling at the top. Some great memories, and hopefully a couple more still to come."
Across 18 matches in T20 World Cups between 2014 and 2024, Boult scalped 34 wickets at an impressive economy rate of 5.93.
