Mayank Yadav and Nitish Kumar Reddy made their debuts in the ongoing first T20I between India and Bangladesh at New Madhavrao Scindia Cricket Stadium in Gwalior on Sunday, October 6. Mayank and Nitish received their caps from Murali Kartik and Parthiv Patel, respectively. The duo have been included in the national side following their exploits in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Mayank impressed everyone with his sheer pace by cloaking at a consistent speed of over 150kmph while playing for the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). The Delhi-born speedster bowled the fastest delivery of IPL 2024 (156.7 kmph). The 22-year-old bagged seven wickets in four matches, including three wickets each against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Punjab Kings (PBKS).

On the other hand, Nitish had a breakthrough debut IPL season. The SunRisers Hyderabad player amassed 303 runs in 11 innings at a strike rate of 142.92 with the help of two half-centuries. The part-time medium pacer also bagged three wickets. The 21-year-old was previously included in the India squad for the T20I series in Zimbabwe but was ruled out due to injury.

Sharing pictures of the two debutants, BCCI captioned their Instagram post:

"He definitely has the X factor” – Suryakumar Yadav on Mayank Yadav

Suryakumar Yadav recently lauded Mayank Yadav for his quick rise in competitive cricket, calling him an X-factor for the team. He said (via ESPNcricinfo):

"He (Mayank Yadav) definitely has the X factor - it was evident when he played franchise cricket. He has that extra pace. I didn't face him in the nets; our net plan was such that someone else faced him. But I have seen what potential he has and what difference he can make for the team. From that point of view, I feel he is a good addition to the Indian team and I am hoping he will do well."
"It's important to manage him well because of the amount of cricket being played,” he added.
