Team India pacer Akash Deep visited the Ayodhya Ram Mandir following the recently culminated second and final Test of the Men in Blue's home Test series against Bangladesh. The Rohit Sharma-led seven-wicket win in the Kanpur Test to complete a 2-0 whitewash over the visitors.

After the Kanpur Test, Akash sought the blessings of Lord Rama at the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya. Sharing pictures of his visit to the iconic temple, the fast bowler wrote on Instagram:

"जय श्रीराम (Jai Shree Ram)🙏🏿🛕🚩"

Akash Deep impressed many with his bowling exploits in the Bangladesh Test series. The 27-year-old finished with five wickets across four innings at an average of 20.40. He was also handy with the bat, striking two stunning sixes in the Kanpur Test.

Akash Deep expressed his delight at finally getting an opportunity to visit the Ram Temple in Ayodhya. He said he had seen the videos of the newly built temple and had dreamt of being there.

Mentioning that he prayed about the Indian team continuing their wonderful run, Akash said in an interview with ANI:

"It was a dream since long to have darshan of Lord Ram, especially when this temple was built and I saw videos of Lord Ram... I have prayed that the way we are playing, we keep that going on... I can't express it in words - how it felt to have darshan of Lord Ram."

Akash Deep made his Test debut earlier this year against England. He has eight wickets to his name from five innings in the format. He is yet to make his debut in ODIs and T20Is.

The Indian team's next red-ball assignment will be a three-match home Test series against New Zealand, beginning in Bengaluru on October 16. Rohit Sharma and company are currently the table-toppers in the World Test Championship (WTC) points table with 98 points and a 74.24 points percentage.
