Yuzvendra Chahal, who won the 2024 T20 World Cup trophy with Team India, was felicitated by Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Saini on Thursday, July 11. The chief minister congratulated the spinner on winning the ICC trophy and expressed his gratitude to Chahal for inspiring the next generation of players to undertake sports.

Chahal didn’t get a game at the T20 World Cup but has been India’s leading wicket-taker in T20Is. The leg-spinner has bagged 96 wickets in 80 T20Is at an economy rate of 8.19. Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jasprit Bumrah are second and third with 90 and 89 wickets, respectively.

Haryana CM Nayab Saini wrote on X (English translated version from Hindi):

“I met the son of the Haryana's soil @yuzi_chahal, who was a part of the T-20 World Cup winning Indian cricket team. Yuzvendra Chahal has inspired countless youth from Haryana and across the country to take up cricket and make a career in the sports. Congratulations and best wishes to him and the entire Indian team for this glorious victory.”

Yuzvendra Chahal played his last T20I against West Indies in August 2023. The 33-year-old has been rested for the ongoing five-match T20I series in Zimbabwe.

He might be considered for the white-ball series in Sri Lanka later this month. India will tour the Island country for a three-match T20I and ODI series. India's new head coach Gautam Gambhir will also join for his role from the Sri Lanka tour.


Yuzvendra Chahal and other Indian players to receive ₹5 crore each for 2024 T20 World Cup win

Yuzvendra Chahal and his teammates received ₹5 crore each for the 2024 T20 World Cup victory as the BCCI secretary Jay Shah announced ₹125 crore for the Men in Blue following their title triumph.

According to reports, the BCCI has informed all the players about the individual prize money. Apart from the main players, the reserves will get ₹1 crore each.

The five-member selection committee comprising chairman Ajit Agarkar will get the same cash reward. The Rahul Dravid-led support staff walked home with ₹2.5 crore in their kitty.
