Croatia defeated Serbia by 28 runs in match number nine of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Sub Regional Europe Qualifier B at Krefeld’s Bayer Uerdingen Cricket Ground. In the second Group A match of the day at the same venue, Jersey blanked Belgium by 108 runs to maintain their unbeaten run in the ongoing tournament.

In the third match of the triple-header at Krefeld on July 10, Slovenia overcame Gibraltar with a wicket to spare in a crunch last-over thriller.

In terms of Group A fixtures, Croatia’s 28-run triumph over Serbia helped them secure their second win of the competition to jump to number two on the five-team points table. Jersey, meanwhile, registered their third win in succession, all with over 100-run margins, to solidify themselves at the top of the Group A standings with a healthy NRR of 7.333.

Belgium is ranked third at the moment, and their 108-run margin of defeat pummeled their NRR to a negative 1.874. Switzerland and Serbia, with two defeats in two games each, occupy the fourth and fifth slots , respectively on the Group A standings.

In the Group B segment, unbeaten Norway continues to top the table with two wins at an NRR of 4.552. Hosts Germany, also with two wins, is placed at number two owing to a slightly inferior NRR of 1.15. Slovenia displaced Sweden from number three through their one-wicket win over fourth-placed Gibraltar.

Sweden, with two defeats from two matches, slipped to the bottom of the Group B points table.

Croatia, Jersey and Slovenia accumulate wins on triple-header day

In a rain-curtailed 18-over Group A game, Croatia listed 103/9, with Serbian fast bowler Mark Pavlovic headlining his team’s bowling charge with figures of 4/16. For Croatia, opener Christopher Turkich (20 runs) and number three Zach Vukusic (40 runs) accounted for 60 runs between them, while none of their teammates managed to reach the double-digits.

Later in the run-chase, Luke Potthoff and Daniel Turkich claimed identical three-wicket hauls to restrict Serbia to 75/8 from 18 overs to secure a 28-run win for Croatia.

In the second Group A match of the day, Jersey outclassed Belgium by 108 runs after amassing 198/7 upfront. Nick Greenwood, Asa Tribe, and Jonty Jenner charted valiant 30s before Charlie Brennan blasted a 22-ball 40* to overcome Khalid Ahmadi’s three-wicket haul. Chasing 199 for a win, Belgium’s entire line-up fell short at 90/9 in front of Benjamin Ward’s match-winning figures of 4/12.

In the lone Group B match of the triple-header, Slovenia claimed a nervy one-wicket win in the last over after restricting Gibraltar to 136/9 from 20 overs. Merwais Shinwari, Izaz Ali, and Sudhakar Koppolu starred with the ball for Slovenia by snapping six wickets between them before their tailenders steered them past the finishing line with three balls to spare.
