The 2024 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup League 2 resumed on Saturday, July 20, with a match between Scotland and Namibia at Dundee’s Forthill.

After Namibia captain Gerhard Erasmus won the toss and opted to field first, his left-arm spinner Bernard Scholtz got rid of Scotland opener Charlie Tear in the seventh over of the innings. Tear’s partner George Munsey led Scotland’s recovery with a 120-run partnership with number three Brandon McMullen. Tangeni Lungameni (2/47) struck back with two quick wickets for Namibia at 161/3 before Scholtz removed Matthew Cross and Michael Leask cheaply to finish with figures of 3/23.

Munsey went on to top-score with an attacking 91 from 62 balls, while captain Richie Berrington’s 79 propelled Scotland’s total to a daunting 290/9 in 50 overs.

Chasing 291, Namibia lost opener Lo-handre Louwrens for a 23-ball duck to Brandon McMullen before Michael van Lingen shared steady partnerships with Jan Frylinck (34 off 39 balls) and captain Gerhard Erasmus (63 off 51 balls). Lingen himself scored a fluent 60.

Just as Namibia gained some run-chase stability, Scottish spinner Michael Leask (4/40) mopped up their tail with a four-wicket burst. Amid rain interruption at Forthill, the Scotland team was declared victorious with a 47-run margin (DLS method).
