The ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup League 2 resumed on Sunday, August 11 after a 15-day gap with a match between Netherlands and Canada at the Sportpark Duivesteijn.

Winning the toss and opting to bat first, Canada lost opener Aaron Johnson and number three Aaditya Varadarajan earlier in the innings to Kyle Klein. After crashing to 111/5 in 33.3 overs, wicketkeeper-batter Shreyas Movva carved 65 runs from 90 balls with six boundaries and shared steady partnerships with Harsh Thaker (35) and Saad Bin Zafar (22).

Movva eventually became the final wicket of Canada’s 194-run total in 48.4 overs to hand Klein an another wicket as he finished with figures of 4/33. Paul van Meekeren also picked up crucial wickets for Netherlands to claim figures of 3/41 from nine overs.

In response, Netherlands star Max O'Dowd (79*) belted an unbeaten half-century and shared a 77-run stand with opening partner Michael Levitt (45) and another 78 runs with Vikramjit Singh (29). Jeremy Gordon (1/31) and Saad Bin Zafar (3/49) collectively picked up four quick wickets towards the closing stages of the run-chase, before Netherlands eventually soared past the finishing line with nearly five overs to spare.

Scotland’s George Munsey continues to lead the run-scoring charts of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup League 2 with 302 runs. Harsh Thakur (269 runs), Gerhard Erasmus (245 runs) and Richie Berrington (228 runs) are the only other batters to have tallied over 200 runs so far this season.

Namibian teammates Michael van Lingen (199 runs), Jan Frylinck (197 runs) and JJ Smit (191 runs) have emerged as the fifth, sixth and seventh most successful batters so far, and they are followed by Max O'Dowd (186 runs), Brandon McMullen (181 runs) and MB Kruger (152 runs) to round up the top 10 batting list.

Gerhard Erasmus with 14 wickets and Aryan Dutt with 12 wickets have emerged as the two most successful bowlers of the ongoing ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup League 2 so far. Canada’s Dilon Heyliger and Namibia’s Bernard Scholtz take the third and fourth spot, respectively on the top 10 bowling list with 10 wickets each.

Vivian Kingma, Brad Currie, Saad Bin Zafar and Ben Shikongo take the subsequent four slots on the wicket-taking charts with eight scalps. Charlie Cassell and Kushal Bhurtel occupy the final two positions on the table for claiming seven wickets each in the tournament.
