"I don't know what happened to it" - Greg Chappell's iconic Baggy Green goes missing

Former Australia skipper Greg Chappell has shared he has lost one of his national caps, popularly known as the Baggy Green after moving back to Adelaide. The iconic green cap holds a lot of value for every cricketer who has represented Australia in Test cricket in their careers.

Chappell, who represented Australia in 87 Tests and 74 ODIs, revealed he could not find the cap while browsing through his storage on the back of a move to Adelaide.

"We had stuff in storage for about 10 years or so. When we moved back to Adelaide, we brought everything out of storage and I was expecting to find that baggy green cap, but it didn't appear," Chappell said on the Cricket Et Al podcast.

"I don't know what happened to it. I wouldn't like to cast aspersions, but it went into storage, but it doesn't seem to have come out. "It was a period of my life I enjoyed hugely and I'm quite proud of, but I don't want to be surrounded by it," he added.

Chappell has had a comprehensive career after his retirement as a player. He has served as a selector of the Australian national team across several stints, as well as for Queensland.

Chappell also served as head coach of the Indian national team and held coaching roles with the South Australia domestic team and the Pakistan national team.

In 2023, reports surfaced that the former player was struggling financially, leading to his friends coming together and launching a funding camp to address the issue.

Former Australian opening batter David Warner also had to deal with a missing Baggy Green during the build-up to the final Test appearance of his career.

Warner had revealed the details regarding the situation on social media, urging the person responsible to return the prized possession, while promising no action against him.

This led to a wide search for the Baggy Green, with everyone from hotel staff to the airport and airline authorities involved in the search process. The cap was finally found in the Australian team's luggage.
