"How can one vote overpower the other 6?"- Abdul Razzaq reacts to being sacked from selection committee by Pakistan Cricket Board

Australia v Pakistan: Group A - 2011 ICC World Cup
Abdul Razzaq will no longer be a part of the Pakistan men's and women's selection committee

Pakistan cricket Board (PCB) once again made headlines when they sacked Abdul Razzaq and Wahab Riaz from the seven-man selection committee for the men's team. Razzaq was also a part of the selection committee of the women's team and will no longer have any say in that aspect as well.

The PCB took to their official website to publish a media release announcing the decision. Here's what it read:

"The Pakistan Cricket Board today confirmed that it has notified Abdul Razzaq and Wahab Riaz that their services will no longer be required in the national selection committee setup. Abdul Razzaq was a member of the men’s and women’s selection committee, while Wahab was a member of the men’s selection committee. The PCB will provide further updates on the selection committee’s composition in due course."

Abdul Razzaq, however, has taken to X (formerly Twitter) to express his frustration regarding possible allegations that he had too much of a say in selection decisions. He claimed that it was a collective decision from the selectors to pick Pakistan's team for the T20 World Cup and wrote:

"If all were given equal power how can one vote overpower the other 6 in the selection committee ??"

PCB chief Mohsin Naqvi had claimed that Pakistan cricket needed a 'major surgery' after Babar Azam and co. failed to even qualify for the Super 8 [hase with losses against the USA and India in their group.

Wahab Riaz had also expressed same concern as Abdul Razzaq

Wahab Riaz earlier on Wednesday had made a similar comment on allegations of his vote carrying more weight than other members. Here's what he had written on X:

"I don’t agree with the statements being discussed about adding pressure to the members of the selection committee, how can 1 vote dominate 6? Everything is documented on record in the meeting minutes."

Wahab Riaz also later released a statement thanking the PCB, the coaching staff, and the players for their cooperation. However, he did leave a cryptic message claiming that he had a lot more to say. Only time will tell if there are more aspects to the sacking of the two former Pakistan cricketers.
