Heather Graham named replacement for Tayla Vlaeminck in Australia's squad for remainder of 2024 ICC Women's T20 WC

Australia have named fast-bowling all-rounder Heather Graham as a replacement for the injured Tayla Vlaeminck for the remainder of the ongoing 2024 ICC Women's T20 World Cup. The tournament's Event Technical Committee, consisting of Wasim Khan (ICC General Manager—Cricket, Chair), Snehal Pradhan (ICC Manager—Women’s Cricket), Salman Hanif (Emirates Cricket Board Tournament Director), and Katey Martin (Independent Representative), had given Australia the green signal for the replacement.

Pacer Tayla Vlaeminck dislocated her right shoulder while attempting to prevent a boundary during Australia's group fixture against Pakistan in Dubai on Friday, October 11.

Heather Graham, who made her T20I debut against India in Navi Mumbai in December 2022, has so far played five T20Is and picked up eight wickets. She will be available for selection in their final group match against India and the tournament's knockout stages, should Australia qualify.

Defending champions Australia unbeaten so far in the 2024 ICC Women's T20 World Cup

Alyssa Healy's women are so far unbeaten in the 2024 ICC Women's T20 World Cup, having won all three of their Group A clashes. After defeating Sri Lanka by six wickets in their opening encounter in Sharjah, the six-time winners overcame the challenge of arch-rivals New Zealand, registering a 60-run victory.

They followed it up with yet another convincing win against Pakistan in Dubai by successfully chasing down the target of 83 runs in just 11 overs. Going into their final group match, they are comfortably placed on top of the ladder with six points from three games and a net run rate of +2.786.

Meanwhile, ahead of the clash against India, Australia have another injury scare as skipper Alyssa Healy suffered an acute injury to her right foot while taking a run against Pakistan on Friday, October 11. She retired hurt while batting on 37 off 23 balls during the chase and hobbled from the ground.
