Former cricketer Irfan Pathan has lauded his India Champions captain Yuvraj Singh after they won the World Championship of Legends (WCL) 2024 title at Edgbaston in Birmingham on Saturday, July 13. Irfan added that Yuvraj deserved the trophy as a leader because of his hunger.

The cricketer-turned-commentator credited Yuvraj for managing the bunch of players and ringing him to take part in the T20 tournament in England.

Notably, India beat Pakistan by five wickets in the summit clash. They chased down 157 with five balls to spare.

Irfan, who took the prized scalp of Pakistan Champions captain Younis Khan, wrote on X:

“So happy to play under the leadership of @YUVSTRONG12. He wanted to win this badly. He deserves this trophy as a leader as he assembled the team in short time & gave each and everyone their role precisely.
“We troubled him a lot by giving him too many advices but he managed everything so so well. Love you brother for that phone call,” he added.

“Feels good to be holding the winning trophy at this age too” – Yuvraj Singh on winning 2024 WCL trophy with India Champions

Yuvraj Singh, who played a big role in helping India lift the 2007 T20 and 2011 ODI World Cups, was delighted to win the WCL 2024 trophy. He credited the players and the support staff for gelling up with the team quickly and yielding a fruitful result. Yuvraj wrote on Instagram:

“Feels good to be holding the winning trophy at this age too. Absolutely thrilled with the boys’ (or should I say men’s) performance throughout the tournament! It’s always great to be back on the park with legends from around the world.
"A massive thank you to the crowds for coming out in large numbers to support us. And not to forget our coaches and support staff, who did an incredible job oiling our rusted machinery and helping us perform out there!" he added.

Yuvraj Singh stayed unbeaten on 15 off 22 balls to take India Champions over the line in the final.
