Gujarat Titans owners have reportedly shown interest in selling a majority of the stakes in the franchise ahead of IPL 2025. Currently, the Ahmedabad-based team is under the ownership of CVC Capital's Irelia Sports India Private Limited.
According to a report by Economic Times, Adani and Torrent are in talks with GT owners to purchase a majority of the stake in the team. It is pertinent to note that both Adani and Torrent seperately bid for the Ahmedabad franchise in the teams' auction in 2021, but Irelia Sports India Private Limited outbid them.
Adani Sportsline owns various franchises in leagues, namely Gulf Giants (International League T20) and Gujarat Giants (Legends League Cricket, Pro Kabaddi, Women's Premier League and Ultimate Kho Kho). Hence, fans on X speculated that if the Adani group buys the Gujarat franchise in IPL, he can rename it from Titans to Giants as well.

Another fan noted how all the Giants franchises don the orange color, which is why Gujarat may also have an orange kit if they rebrand themselves ahead of IPL 2025.

Some fans do not want Gujarat Titans name to be changed in IPL
Gujarat Titans built a massive fanbase in the last three years. Some of their loyal fans did not wish to see the team being rebranded. A popular X user reacted to the report and wrote:
"Don't want this team rebranded as Gujarat giants. Don't want to change the jersey and the vibe. I loved this team because of the subtle vibe."
Another fan agreed with him and suggested that Adani should rename their WPL team to Gujarat Titans as well if they buy stakes in the franchise from Irelia Sports India Private Limited.
"Best if Adani group changes women's team name to GT," the fan wrote.
It will be interesting to see if the Adani group actually buys stakes in the franchise and rebrands it. So far, this is mere speculation based on the report that has emerged online.
