On Wednesday, July 31, the Bangla Tigers Mississauga played against the Surrey Jaguars in the 10th game of the Global T20 Canada (GT20) 2024. This was followed by, the Brampton Wolves taking on the Vancouver Knights in the 11th match.

Montreal Tigers are currently sitting first on the GT20 Canada 2024 points table with a net run rate of +1.417. They have won three games in a row. Bangla Tigers Mississauga secured their third consecutive win in the last game against the Jaguars by four wickets. They are now ranked second with a negative NRR of -0.009.

Toronto Nationals dropped from second to third. They have won two out of four games and lost as many. Meanwhile, with similar records, Brampton Wolves moved from fifth to fourth after defeating Vancouver Knights by six wickets.

Surrey Jaguars slipped from fourth to fifth with two losses in three games while the Knights continue languishing at the bottom of the GT20 Canada 2024 points table with four losses.

Surrey Jaguars opted to bat first and were bowled out for 101. Skipper Marcus Stoinis (36) was the top-scorer, followed by Logan van Beek (31) while the rest were dismissed in single digits. Shoriful Islam was the pick of the Bangla bowlers with a three-wicket haul while David Wiese and captain Shakib Al Hasan took two wickets each.

In reply, Bangla Tigers Mississauga lost their opener Rahmanullah Gurbaz for four, followed by his partner Muhammad Waseem (14 off 24). However, handy contributions from Iftikhar Ahmed (13), Curtis Campher, and Pargat Singh, scoring 10 runs each, and Wiese’s 27 off 19, aided them in a comfortable win.

In the next game, Vancouver Knights won the toss and elected to bat first. With unbeaten knocks from Richie Berrington (38*) and Asif Ali (36*), backed by Reeza Hendricks’ 27, they had set a modest 150-run target for four wickets. Thomas Draca claimed two wickets for the Wolves while Andrew Tye and Beau Webster took one each.

In reply, Brampton Wolves chased the target with 1.5 overs left, thanks to Webster’s 49 not out and Nick Hobson’s 37* off 28. Skipper David Warner (25) and George Munsey (20) also added important runs to the chase. Dwaine Pretorius, Rishiv Ragav Joshi, and Sandeep Lamichhane secured one wicket apiece.
