The fourth match of the 2024 Global T20 Canada saw the Vancouver Knights take on the Bangla Tigers Mississauga at the CAA Centre, Brampton, on Saturday, July 27. Mississauga trumped the Knights by 22 runs.

The second game of the day and the fifth overall match of the season saw the Toronto Nationals chase down the target set by the Brampton Wolves, winning comfortably by a margin of eight wickets with 40 deliveries to spare.

The Toronto Nationals' win against the Brampton Wolves helped them claim the top spot on the points table after having played two games. The Nationals have four points so far with a net run rate of +2.429. The Montreal Tigers are second on the leaderboard with two points in two games and a net run rate of +1.650.

Brampton Wolves occupy the third spot in the 2024 edition of the Global Canada T20 with two points. They have a net run rate of +0.200. Bangla Tigers Mississauga, after their win over the Vancouver Knights, are in fourth place with two points in two matches, although their net run rate is in the negative (-0.275).

The Vancouver Knights are yet to register a win this season, with two losses in a row so far in the tournament. They occupy the fifth position with zero points and a net run rate of -1.587. The Surrey Jaguars lost their opening game of the season by a big margin, which is why they languish at the bottom of the points table in sixth place. They have a net run rate of -2.950.


Mississauga defend a mid-level total; Nationals cruise past the Wolves by eight wickets at Global T20 Canada 2024

Riding on batting contributions from Hazratullah Zazai (33 off 28), Pargat Singh (20 off 13), and Iftikhar Ahmed (50* off 40), the Bengal Tigers Mississauga posted a total of 152/7 in the first encounter of the day against the Vancouver Knights. Sandeep Lamichhane took two wickets while the likes of Mohammad Amir, Jeremy Gordon, Dwaine Pretorius, and Paul van Meekeren scalped one each for the Vancouver Knights.

Despite a tremendous batting effort from Harsh Thaker (79* off 67), the Knights fell short of the target, handing the Bengal Tigers Mississauga a 22-run victory in the fourth game of the tournament. Shakib Al Hasan (3/10) was the highest wicket-taker for the Mississauga’s.

In the fifth match of the tournament, the Brampton Wolves were bowled out for a mere 110 runs in 19.1 overs against the Toronto Nationals. Toronto bowlers Junaid Siddique (3/23), Mario Shepherd (2/20), and Jason Behrendorff (2/20) ensured that no Wolves batter had a prominent contribution.

Unmukt Chand (53* off 40) and Rassie van der Dussen (25 off 23) made light work of this chase as the Toronto Nationals won the game by eight wickets and 6.4 overs to spare.
