On Tuesday, July 30, Toronto Nationals and Bangla Tigers Mississauga squared off in the eighth match of the Global T20 Canada (GT20) 2024 while Brampton Wolves and Montreal Tigers met in the ninth match.

Montreal Tigers defeated Brampton Wolves and retained their first position on the GT20 Canada 2024 points table with a net run rate of +1.417. On the other hand, Toronto Nationals, who suffered their second loss in four games, also continue to hold the second position with four points and a positive NRR of +0.035.

Bangla Tigers Mississauga jumped from fifth to third after winning their second consecutive game against Toronto Nationals on Tuesday. Surrey Jaguars and Brampton Wolves descended to the next two spots with two points each while Vancouver Knights, having lost all three matches, languish at the foot of the table.

Bangla Tigers Mississauga batted first in Tuesday's first match and set a 169-run target for the Toronto Nationals. David Wiese top-scored 38* off 17 followed by Muhammad Waseem’s 27 and 24 runs each from Rahmanullah Gurbaz and skipper Shakib Al Hasan. Saad Bin Zafar and Romario Shepherd took two wickets each for Toronto while the rest picked up one apiece except Roston Chase.

In reply, the Toronto Nationals lost their top order within the powerplay. Nicholas Kirton smashed an excellent 54-ball 74-run knock, featuring 11 boundaries, to bring his side into a commanding position. However, he wasn’t backed by the rest of the lineup, resulting in a two-run loss.

Ali Khan claimed two wickets for Bangla Tigers and the remaining bowlers took one each except for Dillon Heyliger, who went wicketless.

In the following game, Montreal Tigers were restricted to 166/7, with Dilpreet Bajwa hitting an outstanding century off 55 balls, comprising 16 boundaries. Parveen Kumar (18), Sherfane Rutherford (15), and Azmatullah Omarzai (13) also chipped in with handy contributions with the bat. Andrew Tye was the pick of the Brampton Wolves bowling attack with a three-wicket haul while Jack Jarvis, Beau Webster, Akhil Kumar, and Abhijai Mansingh took one apiece.

In response, Tigers bowled Brampton Wolves out to 124 in 18.5 overs, thanks to Omarzai’s four-fer and two wickets each from Kaleem Sana and Zahoor Khan. George Munsey (54) was the top-scorer for the Wolves, followed by Kobe Herft (22) and Aaron Johnson (10) while the rest were dismissed in single digits.
