The Global T20 Canada 2024 season staged a double-header on Wednesday, July 31 at the CAA Centre in Brampton.
In the first match of the day, the Bangla Tigers Mississauga skittled out Surrey Jaguars for just 101 in 19.5 overs. Each of the six utilized bowlers picked up at least a wicket, with Shoriful Islam unfurling the spell of the match with figures of 3/11. Shakib Al Hasan and David Wiese also picked up two wickets each in the low-scoring innings.
Later in the game, Sunil Narine waged Surrey Jaguars’ lone rebellion with three quick wickets to reduce Bangla Tigers Mississauga to 31/4 at one stage of the run-chase. However, David Wiese (27* off 19 balls) and Dilon Heyliger (17* off 12 balls) steadied Bangla Tigers Mississauga’s faltering innings by steering them to a four-wicket win in the penultimate over.
In the evening, Vancouver Knights batted first and managed 149/4 from their 20 overs. Unbeaten batters Richie Berrington (38* off 25 balls) and Asif Ali (36* off 17 balls) top-scored in the innings after Munir Ahmad and Reeza Hendricks failed to capitalize on their starts. For the Brampton Wolves, Thomas Draca picked up two wickets for 17 runs while Beau Webster conceded just 16 from his four overs with the wicket of Ahmad.
Chasing 150, Brampton Wolves mowed down their target in just 18.1 overs courtesy of Webster’s 37-ball 49* and Nick Hobson’s 28-ball 37*. George Munsey also clubbed a boundary and two sixes during his selfless 20-run cameo to defy Rishiv Joshi (1/23) and Dwaine Pretorius (1/30).
Global T20 Canada 2024 Most Runs List
Dilpreet Bajwa remains the leading run-scorer in the Global T20 Canada 2024 season with 174 runs from three innings. George Munsey closed in on the table-topper by moving to 146 runs after his 20-run cameo against Vancouver Knights. Harsh Thakur, with 100 runs, is ranked third on the list and is followed by Unmukt Chand (97 runs) and Rahmanullah Gurbaz (96 runs) to round off the top five.
Nicholas Kirton and Reeza Hendricks take the sixth and seventh slots with 95 and 94 runs respectively for their sides, while Marcus Stoinis and Iftikhar Ahmed take the subsequent two slots after tallying 93 runs each. Beau Webster occupies the final spot in the top 10 with 90 runs from four innings.
Global T20 Canada 2024 Most Wickets List
Toronto Nationals fast bowler Junaid Siddique has picked up 10 wickets so far to lead the wicket-taking charts in the Global T20 Canada 2024 season. The speedster is followed by Aayan Afzal Khan with eight wickets from three innings.
Sunil Narine and David Wiese take the third and fourth spots respectively having taking seven wickets each. Brampton Wolvers’ Bangladeshi imports Shoriful Islam and Shakib Al Hasan take the subsequent two slots with six wickets to their name.
Azmatullah Omarzai, Thomas Draca, Saad Bin Zafar and Romario Shepherd have all scalped five wickets each to round off the top 10.
