The Global T20 Canada 2024 continued on Saturday, July 27, with a doubleheader at the CAA Centre in Brampton.

In the first match between Bangla Tigers Mississauga and Vancouver Knights, the former listed 152/7 from 20 overs after being invited to bat first. Iftikhar Ahmed top-scored in the innings with a fiery half-century after the early breakthroughs orchestrated by Mohammad Amir (1/24), Jeremy Gordon (1/28) and Dwaine Pretorius (1/29). Sandeep Lamichhane also picked up two in the middle-overs to claim figures of 2/32.

Chasing 153, Vancouver Knights managed just 130/6 despite a calculated 79* from number four Harsh Thaker. Pacemen David Wiese (1/37) and Shoriful Islam (1/12) starred with the new-ball before Shakib Al Hasan’s three-fer (3/10) led to a 22-run win for the Mississauga.

Later in the evening, Brampton Wolves’ decision of batting first backfired as they were bundled out for just 110 in 19.1 overs by Toronto Nationals bowlers. Pace spearheads Jason Behrendorff and Romario Shepherd picked up two wickets each in the innings while UAE-import Junaid Siddique unfurled the spell of the match for the Nationals with figures of 3/23.

In response, Toronto Nationals cruised to an eight-wicket win, courtesy of an unbeaten half-century from opener Unmukt Chand. Rassie van der Dussen also produced a handy 25 at number three as the Nationals mowed down their target with nearly seven overs to spare.
