Team India beat Bangladesh comprehensively by 86 runs in the second T20I on Wednesday, October 9, at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. Courtesy of the dominant victory, the hosts took an unassailable lead of 2-0 in the three-match series.

After opting to bat first, India notched up a daunting total of 221/9 in 20 overs. Nitish Kumar Reddy (74) and Rinku Singh (53) hit magnificent half-centuries and rescued the hosts after being reduced to 41/3 inside the powerplay.

Hardik Pandya (32) and Co. played vital cameos in the end to finish the innings on a high. Rishad Hossain scalped three wickets for Bangladesh but gave away 55 runs in his 4-over spell. Pacer Taskin Ahmed starred for them with the ball as his figures read 4-0-16-2.

In reply, Bangladesh began decently as their top-order batters tried to play with aggressive intent. However, they perished without converting starts, which triggered a collapse in their batting line-up. From 40/1, they slumped to 46/4 in a couple of overs to lose all the momentum in the chase. They couldn't recover after that, as they kept losing wickets and eventually suffered a disappointing 86-run defeat.

Indian fans enjoyed the one-sided second T20I between the two teams on Wednesday night. They expressed their reactions to the game by sharing hilarious memes on X and Instagram.

"We've repeated the same mistakes"- Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain Shanto after disappointing loss vs India in 2nd T20I 2024 in Delhi

At the post-match presentation, Bangladesh skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto reflected on the loss, saying:

"We've repeated the same mistakes. It is not good as a team and we need to improve. It was a good decision still, if you look at the bowling, first six or seven overs, we bowled well but after that India came back, we didn't bounce back."

Elaborating his point of view, Shanto continued:

"Take responsibility as batters, we have to believe in ourselves, if we spend time in the middle we can do it. After six or seven overs, we didn't execute our plans. The way Tanzim, Taskin bowled, it was impressive."

The two teams will now travel south to Hyderabad to play the third and final T20I of the series on October 12.
