Team India won the toss and elected to bowl on Day 1 of the Kanpur Test. They had a good start as they managed to limit Bangladesh to 107/3 after 35 overs before rain took center stage and there was no cricket for the next couple of days.

The side came out all guns blazing as they managed to pick up the next seven wickets and bowled out Bangladesh for 233.

In response, Team India launched an all-out assault on the Bangladeshi bowlers, scoring 285/9d in 34.4 overs at a run rate of 8.29 runs per over.

With 19 overs remaining after their batting essay, they managed to dismiss Bangladesh opener Zakir Hasan and night watchman Hasan Mahmud, with the visitors reeling on 26/2 after 11 overs. Ravichandran Ashwin starred with the ball in hand for the hosts, picking up three wickets.
