Purani Dilli 6 beat West Delhi Lions by six wickets in Match No. 24 of the Delhi Premier League (DPL) 2024 on Saturday, August 31. With the win, Purani Dilli jumped from fifth to third in the table with eight points and a net run rate of -0.851, thanks to victories in four out of nine games in the tournament.
West Delhi Lions, on the other hand, kept struggling at the bottom of the table. They have mustered only four points until now after two wins and a net run rate of -1.099 from eight games.
Earlier in the day, South Delhi Superstarz beat North Delhi Strikers by 112 runs. With the win, the Superstarz jumped one place to the top of the table, thanks to wins in six out of eight games. The Strikers, meanwhile, dropped two down to fifth with a net run rate of -1.361.
Ayush Badoni stars for South Delhi Superstarz against Strikers in Delhi Premier League 2024
Sunday belonged to Ayush Badoni as the Superstarz humbled the Strikers at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. After opting to bat first, the Superstarz scored 308 for the loss of five wickets. Opener Priyansh Arya scored 120 runs off 50 balls with 10 fours and as many sixes.
But it was Badoni, who stole the limelight with a 165-run knock off only 55 balls with eight fours and 19 sixes. Strikers’ skipper Priyanshu Vijayran made 62 off 32, but his knock could only take his team to 196 for eight.
Aayush Singh was the star performer for Purani Dilli, who breezed past the Lions. He had figures of 4-0-25-4 as Purani Dilli restricted their opponents to 139 in 19.3 overs.
Yash Bharadwaj picked up three wickets while Prince Yadav accounted for two scalps. Purani Dilli chased down the target with 11 balls left in their innings. Keshav Dalal’s unbeaten 47 took his team past the finish line comfortably.
