On Sunday, August 18, Central Delhi Kings squared off with East Delhi Riders in the second match of the Delhi Premier League 2024. West Delhi Lions and North Delhi Strikers faced off in the third encounter on the same day.

East Delhi Riders defeated Central Delhi Kings by ten wickets and secured the top spot in DPL 2024 points table with a net run rate of 8.780. West Delhi Lions beat North Delhi Strikers in the next match by three wickets and claimed the second position with an NRR of +0.908.

South Delhi Superstarz dropped from the first to third position. They had defeated Purani Dilli-6 in their last game by three wickets. Meanwhile, Purani Dilli-6 moved from sixth to fourth with an NRR of -0.480.

After their respective losses on Sunday, North Delhi Strikers and Central Delhi Kings occupy the last two spots.


Anuj and Himanshu shine for East Delhi; Akhil Chaudhary’s four-fer stuns North Delhi

East Delhi Riders opted to bowl first against Central Delhi Kings and bowled them out for 61 runs in just 8.1 overs. Himanshu Chauhan secured a three-wicket haul while Simarjeet Singh and Rounak Waghela took two wickets each for the Riders. Hiten Dalal (16), Jonty Sindhu (15), and Yash Dhull (13) were the top scorers for the Kings, while the rest were dismissed in single digits.

In reply, East Delhi openers Anuj Rawat (25*) and skipper Himmat Singh (31*) comfortably chased the target in 4.1 overs.

In the following game, West Delhi Lions won the toss and elected to field. Vaibhav Kandpal, the North Delhi Strikers opener, scored 29 runs off 22 balls with four fours and one six. No.4 batter Yash Bhatia top-scored 37 off 28 with five boundaries while Vaibhav Rawal added 36 runs off 29 balls.

Akhil Chaudhary was the wrecker-in-chief with a four-wicket haul while Navdeep Saini, Rohit Yadav, Shashank Vashisht, and West Delhi captain Hrithik Shokeen took one wicket each.

In response, the Lions chased down the target in 18.3 overs. Ankit Kumar set the pace with a blistering 39-run knock off just 15 balls, featuring seven boundaries. Although wickets fell regularly, the Lions managed to maintain the required run rate, eventually securing a three-wicket victory.
