The 2024 Delhi Premier League saw the 30th match of the season between South Delhi Superstarz and East Delhi Riders being declared a washout, resulting in the two teams sharing one point each at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi.

This marks the end of the preliminary round of games, with playoffs scheduled in the days to come.

East Delhi Riders, despite a no result in their last fixture of the season, are atop the points leaderboard with 16 points in 10 matches, boasting an impressive net run rate of +1.314. The Riders will face the North Delhi Strikers in the first semi-final.

South Delhi Superstarsz cement second place in the 2024 Delhi Premier League. With six wins and 13 points in 10 matches, the Superstarsz advanced to the second semi-finals with a net run rate of +1.855. Purani Delhi-6 and North Delhi Strikers remain third and fourth in the points standings, with totals of 10 and nine points, respectively.

With a net run rate of -0.596, Purani Delhi-6 will challenge the South Delhi-based franchise in the second semi-finals, while North Delhi, with a net run rate of -0.772, will lock horns with East Delhi Riders in the first semis.

Central Delhi Kings narrowly missed out on a playoff spot with eight points in 10 matches with a net run rate of -0.517, finishing the season in fifth place.

West Delhi Lions had a bad campaign as they could only win two out of their 10 league stage games. With a below-par four points and an abysmal net run rate of -1.411, they languish at the bottom of the points table, lying in the sixth position.


Delhi Premier League 2024: What happened the last time South Delhi Superstarsz and East Delhi Riders faced-off?

South Delhi Superstars and East Delhi Riders locked horns in the eighth game of the season on Thursday, August 22.

South Delhi Superstarz batted first and made 191/7 from 20 overs. Opening batter Priyansh Arya and unbeaten Dhruv Singh both slapped dazzling half-centuries to top-score for their team. Singh in particular bludgeoned 50 runs from just 23 deliveries with two boundaries and five sixes.

Among the East Delhi Riders bowlers, only Mayank Rawat (2/33) and Harsh Tyagi (2/17) seemed to have contained runs from their ends.

In the run-chase, Riders’ openers Anuj Rawat and Sujal Singh brought down the hammer on Superstarz bowlers. They put together an attacking 86-run stand in just the first eight overs.

While wicketkeeper Rawat scored a 20-ball 34 inning, Singh top-scored in the run chase with 63 runs from just 32 balls. Captain Himmat Singh launched three sixes in his 11-ball cameo that yielded 29 runs.

Negating Ayush Badoni’s rising threat (2/26), Hardik Sharma smashed four sixes and a boundary in his unbeaten 24-ball 43. Samarth Sen also notched up the winning runs for the East Delhi Riders alongside Hardik with a near run-a-ball 19.
