Purani Dilli-6 squared off with South Delhi Superstarz in the inaugural match of Delhi Premier League 2024 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Saturday, August 17.

The Ayush Badoni-led South Delhi Superstarz edged Rishab Pant's Purani Dilli-6 by three wickets. They now occupy the first spot in the points table with a net run-rate of +0.480.

Meanwhile, Purani Dilli-6 slumped to the bottom of the table and will be looking to make a strong comeback in their upcoming game against East Delhi Riders on Tuesday, August 20.

On Sunday, August 18, Central Delhi Kings and East Delhi Riders will lock horns for the third match at 2 p.m. while West Delhi Lions and North Delhi Strikers will meet next at 7 p.m.


Ayush Badoni's fifty stuns Rishab Pant-led Purani Dilli-6

After South Delhi Superstarz elected to field first, Purani Dilli-6 posted a healthy 197 for three.

Arpit Rana and Manjeet opened the innings for Purani Dilli-6. Manjeet was dismissed for 13 off eight balls, which included two boundaries. However, Rana, who scored 59 off 41 with eight fours and two sixes, forged an 80-run partnership for the second wicket with captain Rishab Pant (35).

Lalit Yadav and Vansh Bedi then finished strongly with an 89-run stand to set a massive 198-run target for the Superstarz. Yadav scored 34 off 21 with six boundaries while Bedi added 47 runs, including four fours and as many sixes.

Divij Mehra, South Delhi captain Ayush Badoni, and Kunwar Bidhuri picked up a wicket each.

In reply, Priyansh Arya and Sarthak Ray (41) set the tone for the Superstarz with an 87-run opening partnership. Following Ray’s dismissal, Arya (57) and Badoni built another notable partnership of 65 runs from 37 balls.

After skipper Badoni was dismissed for 57 off 29 deliveries, the match turned in favor of Purani Dilli-6 as they scalped six wickets in the next five overs. However, Vision Panchal scored 13 runs in the 19th over, with one four and a six, taking his team over the finish line with five balls to spare.

Shivam Sharma secured two wickets for Purani Dilli-6 while Lalit Yadav, Aayush Singh, Ankit Bhadana, and Prince Yadav scalped one apiece.
