West Delhi Lions and North Delhi Strikers secured close wins in two rain-marred Delhi Premier League 2024 games over South Delhi Superstarz and Central Delhi Kings, respectively, on Friday, August 30.

Regardless of the two results, East Delhi Riders retained their number one spot on the Delhi Premier League 2024 points table with six wins from seven matches. South Delhi Superstarz are in second position after losing to West Delhi Lions by four runs (DLS method). The Superstarz have so far accumulated 10 points, courtesy of five wins in seven games.

North Delhi Strikers jumped from number five to number three on the standings after defeating Central Delhi Kings. The Strikers’ NRR currently stands at -0.571. The Central Delhi Kings slipped to number four after Friday's outcome to find themselves behind the Strikers on the basis of an inferior NRR of -0.866. Purani Dilli-6 also lost a rung to slip to number five for registering three wins in eight attempts so far.

Even though West Delhi Lions managed to defeat South Delhi Superstarz, they continue to languish at the bottom of the points table with a dismal NRR of -1.054.

In the first match of the day in Delhi Premier League 2024, West Delhi Lions batted first and amassed 178/5 from 20 overs. Opener Krish Yadav top-scored with 106 runs from 68 balls and shared a 77-run opening partnership with Ankit Kumar (28 off 21). For the South Delhi Superstarz, Raghav Singh picked up two wickets in the high-scoring innings to seal figures of 2/33.

In response, the Superstarz raced to 123/5 from 15 overs before rains halted play. Priyansh Arya clobbered 24 runs from nine balls and Ayush Badoni launched five sixes in his seven-ball 30 before the Lions were declared victors by four runs (DLS method).

In a 10-over match between North Delhi Strikers and Central Delhi Kings, the former made 100/8, courtesy of some hard-hitting from Yajas Sharma (23 off 6) and Yash Dabas (14 off 5). Sarthak Ranjan top-scored in the innings by listing 29 runs from just 18 deliveries. For the Kings, bowlers Sumit Kumar, Keshav Dabas, and Rajneesh Dadar picked up two wickets each in the innings.

Chasing 101, the Central Delhi Kings managed 91/7 to fall nine runs short of their target. Despite an unbeaten 24 from Lakshay Thareja, the Kings batters were overpowered by Siddhartha Solanki (2/16) as well as by Suyash Sharma (1/11) and Manan Bhardwaj (1/16).
