On Tuesday, August 20, Purani Dilli-6 squared off with East Delhi Riders in the fifth match of Delhi Premier League 2024. Central Delhi Kings and South Delhi Superstarz faced off in the next encounter.

The East Delhi Riders are on fire as they secured their second consecutive win in the fixture against Purani Dilli-6. They retained their top spot in the leaderboard with an impressive net run rate (NRR) of +4.922.

South Delhi Superstarz climbed up to second place with a six-wicket win against Central Delhi Kings. With a net run rate of 0.458, they've proven themselves as strong contenders, overtaking the West Delhi Lions, who now sit in third.

The Lions have an NRR of 0.982 and two points after one match. North Delhi Strikers have retained their fourth position on the table. With one win out of two games and an NRR of -0.031, they remain in the mix but will need more consistency to climb up the rankings.

On the other end of the spectrum, Purani Dilli-6 and Central Delhi Kings are struggling. Both teams are yet to register a win, and their negative NRRs reflect their tough start to the season.


Mayank Rawat shines for East Delhi; Priyansh & Badoni seal the chase for South Delhi

East Delhi Riders opted to bowl first and restricted Purani Dilli-6 to 142/8. Mayank Gusain (33) and Yug Gupta (34) were the top scorers while the other batters were dismissed for less than 20 runs. Simarjeet Singh secured three wickets for East Delhi, while Mayank Rawat and Harsh Tyagi took two wickets each.

In reply, Rawat smashed a 27-ball 55-run match-winning knock and guided the Riders to a comfortable five-wicket win. Prince Yadav and Shivam Sharma took two wickets each for Purani Dilli.

In the following game, Central Delhi Kings posted a challenging 177-run target. Yash Dhull smashed a 44-ball half-century while Dhruv Kaushik scored a 34-ball 56-run knock.

In reply, Priyansh Arya’s outstanding 82-run knock with 10 boundaries backed by skipper Ayush Badoni’s 36-ball 42 helped South Delhi Superstarz secure a six-wicket win with five balls to spare. South Delhi's impact sub Rajneesh Dadar and Money Grewal claimed two wickets each.
