The Delhi Premier League 2024 season continued on Sunday, August 18, with a double-header at the iconic Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.
East Delhi Riders won the first match of the day by pummeling Central Delhi Kings with a 10-wicket margin. For starters, East Delhi Riders bowlers Himanshu Chauhan (3/15), Simarjeet Singh (2/8), and Raunak Waghela (2/21) enveloped Central Delhi’s entire line-up for just 61 in 8.1 overs.
In response, the Riders' openers Anuj Rawat (25* off 12) and Himmat Singh (31* off 13) gunned down their target in 4.1 overs.
Later in the day, North Delhi Strikers batted first and listed 144/8 from 20 overs. Yash Bhatia top-scored with 37 while Vaibhav Rawal also punched out a valiant 36. Akhil Chaudhary hogged the limelight with the ball for West Delhi Lions, claiming four wickets at the expense of just 20 runs.
Chasing 145, West Delhi Lions opener Ankit Kumar clobbered 15-ball 39 at the top while impact player Ekansh Dobal carved a handy 27. Overcoming Yatish Singh’s three-fer, Deepak Punia launched the winning hit to guide West Delhi Lions past the finishing line with three wickets and nine balls to spare.

With three wickets each to their name, Yatish Singh and Himanshu Chauhan find themselves among the three most successful bowlers of the season so far. Chauhan’s East Delhi Riders teammate Simarjeet Singh is ranked fourth on the list for striking twice against Central Delhi Kings.
