"Definitely India" - Kamran Akmal picks the winner of 2024 T20 WC India vs Pakistan clash without any hesitation

Former Pakistan wicketkeeper-batter Kamran Akmal has picked India to emerge victorious over their arch-rivals when the two nations face off in the Group A fixture at the upcoming 2024 ICC Men's T20 World Cup. The much-awaited clash is all set to take place at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York, USA on Sunday, June 9.

The 42-year-old took to his Instagram handle on Monday, May 27, and posted a story captioned 'Ask me a question'. A fan asked him:

"Your prediction about Pak vs India in New York?"

Responding to it without any hesitation, Kamran Akmal wrote:

"Definitely India!"

The last time these two cricketing powerhouses met each other during the ICC T20 World Cup, India defeated Babar Azam's men by four wickets in a nail-biting clash on October 23, 2022, at the colossal Melbourne Cricket Ground. Virat Kohli was adjudged the Player of the Match for his match-winning knock of 82* off 53 balls.

Despite losing that opening Super 12 fixture against India, which was followed by a heartbreaking one-run defeat against Zimbabwe, Pakistan went on to finish the 2022 ICC T20 World Cup as runners-up. The 2009 T20 world champions couldn't get the better of England in the final which was held at Melbourne, losing the contest by five wickets.

This time, though, they will be hoping to go one step further and clinch their second T20 World Cup title.

Pakistan begin their 2024 ICC T20 World Cup campaign with a Group A tie against co-hosts USA on Thursday, June 6, at the Grand Prairie Stadium in Dallas. Apart from USA and India, their group also consists of Canada and Ireland.
