IPL franchises Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) are reported to be in a two-way battle to acquire The Hundred team, Manchester Originals. The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has allowed teams to be sold to interested buyers.

Since the announcement was made, many IPL teams have set their eyes on the lucrative market that The Hundred brings. Delhi Capitals' part owners, GMR Group, have also made a move to acquire Season 1 champions of the league, Southern Brave.

As per CityAM, reports are that CSK and KKR are involved in a two-way war to acquire Manchester Originals.

The team currently has a lone stakeholder in the county side of Lancashire and is estimated to have a value of £8.5 million. With only a lone stakeholder, the takeover procedure is expected to be smooth.

IPL franchises in recent years have acquired teams in abroad leagues. The aforementioned sides have made big sales when it comes to investing in a team in the league.

Chennai Super Kings have sister franchises in SA20 as the Joburg Super Kings (JSK) and in Major League Cricket (MLC) as Texas Super Kings (TSK). Both sides have had consistent performances in the respective leagues, with the teams qualifying for the knockouts in both seasons so far. Faf du Plessis is the skipper of both teams.

Kolkata Knight Riders have three more sister franchises in leagues across the world. They own Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR) in the Caribbean Premier League, Los Angeles Knight Riders (LAKR) in MLC and Abu Dhabi Knight Riders (ADKR) in ILT20. The four Knight Riders franchises have a combined seven league titles.
