The CSA T20 Challenge 2024 will thrill cricket fans with another action-packed season, running from Friday, September 27, to Saturday, October 27. This year, the tournament will take place across nine venues in South Africa, including Potchefstroom, Centurion, Durban, Bloemfontein, Paarl, Gqeberha, Johannesburg, and Cape Town.
The competition will feature eight teams - Rocks, Dolphins, Lions, Tuskers, Titans, North West Dragons, Warriors, and Western Province. The defending champions, Lions, who secured the title last season by defeating the Dolphins in the final, will aim to retain their trophy.
The tournament format includes 27 league-stage matches followed by an intense playoff phase. The top four teams in the points table will move on to the knockout rounds, where the leading two sides will face off in Qualifier 1 on October 22 at 5:30 PM.
The third and fourth-ranked teams will battle in the Eliminator on October 23 at 5:30 PM, with the winner advancing to Qualifier 2 which will take place on October 25 at 5:30 PM to play against the loser of Qualifier 1. The grand final will determine the CSA T20 Challenge 2024 champion, which will be played on October 27.
The CSA T20 Challenge 2024 will see some of South Africa's biggest names plying their trade. Notable names include Rassie van der Dussen, Temba Bavuma, David Miller, Marco Jansen, Wayne Parnell, Dewald Brevis, and Heinrich Klassen.
Pieter Malan is at the helm of the Rocks, with Keshav Maharaj serving as the captain of the Dolphins. The remaining teams have the following captains - Bjorn Fortuin leads the Lions, Michael Erlank heads the Tuskers, Senuran Muthusamy guides the North West Dragons, Aiden Markram leads the Titans, Matthew Breetzke captains Western Province, and Kyle Verreynne is the skipper of the Warriors.
The opening match between the Lions and Titans is scheduled for Friday, September 27, at The Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg.
