It was the double-header Wednesday (April 17) in the CSA T20 Challenge 2024. The Tuskers faced the Rocks in the afternoon game at the City Oval in Pietermaritzburg. The evening game saw the Warriors take on the Lions at St George's Park in Port Elizabeth.
After being asked to bat first, the Tuskers' batters faltered. They failed to build big partnerships as they finished their innings on 119/9, with Kyle Nipper top-scoring with 36. Siyabonga Mahima grabbed three scalps for the Rocks.
The Rocks lost both their openers quickly. However, a solid stand between Shaun von Berg (37*) and Keegan Petersen (57) helped them chase down the total in the 18th over with seven wickets in hand.
In the evening game, the Lions scored 152 at the end of their 20 overs after being put in to bat. Ryan Rickelton scored 52 for them at the top of the order. Nealan van Heerden bowled beautifully for the Warriors and registered figures of 4/23.
The Warriors' batters in the chase never got going. They kept losing wickets at regular intervals and got knocked over on 109 in the last over to lose the game by 43 runs. Wiaan Mulder picked up four wickets for the Lions.
CSA T20 Challenge 2024 Most Runs List
Ryan Rickelton of Lions scored a well-composed 38-ball 52 for them in their win over the Warriors. He has taken his runs tally to 378 in 11 games and sits comfortably at the top of the most runs list.
Matthew Breetzke, the Warriors skipper, managed to score only 16 against the Lions on Wednesday. He has 377 runs to his name in the CSA T20 Challenge 2024 and sits below Rickelton. Rivaldo Moonsamy of the Titans has scored 376 runs in 12 outings at an average of 34.18 and follows Breetzke in the most runs list.
Rubin Hermann of North West Dragons has amassed 374 runs in 10 innings and is placed fourth in the list of most runs. Sibonela Makhanya of the Titans follows Herman, having scored 314 runs in 12 outings.
Reeza Hendricks of the Lions scored 31 off 23 against the Warriors. He has moved to the sixth spot after taking his runs tally to 306 runs in 11 outings. Bryce Parsons of Dolphins is placed seventh after having 284 runs to his name.
Edward Moore, Raynard van Tonder, and Jiveshan Pillay occupy the eighth, ninth and tenth spots in the most runs list in the CSA T20 Challenge 2024.
CSA T20 Challenge 2024 Most Wickets List
Beyers Swanepoel of Warriors registered figures of 1/36 in his four overs against the Lions. He has picked up 20 wickets in the competition so far and is the leading wicket-taker.
Siya Simetu picked up a scalp against the Lions and sits below his teammate in the most wickets list. He has 17 wickets to his name in 12 outings. David Wiese of the Titans has 15 scalps to his name and follows Simetu after having an average of 6.87.
Migael Pretorius of North West Dragons also has picked up 15 wickets in the CSA T20 Challenge 2024 and follows Wiese. Pretorious has an average of 12.27. Mbulelo Budaza of the Tuskers is placed fifth in the most wickets list after having grabbed 14 in nine outings.
Prenelan Subrayen and Bjorn Fortuin have also taken 14 wickets each in the competition and follow Budaza in the list. Nealan van Heerden has moved to the eighth spot after taking his wickets tally to 13 in eight games.
Alfred Mothoa and Kyle Simmonds have picked up 12 scalps each and are placed ninth and tenth in the most wickets list in the CSA T20 Challenge 2024.
