Five matches were played in round nine of the County Championship Division One 2024. The 41st match was played between Durham and Worcestershire. Durham batted first and managed to score 190 runs in the first innings. In reply, Worcestershire were bowled out for 112.

Durham compiled 152 when they came to bat again and set a target of 231 runs. Courtesy of match-winning knocks from Kashif Ali (76) and Adam Hose (50), Worcestershire chased down the score with six wickets in hand.

Meanwhile, the 42nd match saw Hampshire register a comprehensive six-wicket win over Kent. Hampshire put on a massive 505 runs while batting first in the first innings. James Vince starred with the bat, amassing 211 runs off 279 deliveries.

Kent, in reply, mustered up 343 runs in the second but still had a deficit of 162 runs. In their second innings, Ben Compton’s 92 powered them to 340 and set a target of 179 runs. Hampshire chased down the target with ease and won the game by six wickets.

The 43rd match between Lancashire and Notts resulted in a draw, while Somerset beat Warwickshire by five wickets in the 44th match of the tournament. In response to Warwickshire’s 412, Somerset could only score 284 runs.

In their second innings, the former amassed 281 for 8 before declaring and setting a 410-run target. Much to the delight of the Somerset fans, they chased down the score with five wickets in hand. Tom Abell played a masterclass knock of 152 off 207 deliveries.

Meanwhile, Surrey beat Essex by 145 runs in the 45th match of the County Championship Division One 2024.

David Bedingham is at the top of the pile with 926 runs, followed by Keaton Jennings with 854 runs. At number three is Joe Clarke with 795 runs under his name.

The fourth and fifth positions are occupied by Ollie Robinson (788) and Alex Davies (771), respectively. Dean Elgar finds himself at number six with 767 runs, while Jordan Cox is at seventh with 763 runs.

James Vince is in the eighth spot with 714 runs to his name. Haseeb Hameed has 702 runs in nine matches. He is ninth, while Tom Lammonby rounds off the top 10 spots with 682 runs under his belt.

Daniel Worrall is at the top of the wickets chart with 34 wickets. Jamie Porter is second with 34 wickets, while Oliver Hannon-Dalby is third with 32 wickets.

The fourth spot is occupied by Dillon Pennington with 31 wickets, followed by Shane Snater in fifth place with 30 wickets.
