The United States have made major changes to their squad for the upcoming tour of the Netherlands. The changes include dropping all-rounder Corey Anderson from both ODI and T20I legs and letting go of Milind Kumar (T20Is) and Nisarg Patel (both formats).
Anderson had a couple of good performances with both bat and ball as he led the San Francisco Unicorns to the final of the recent edition of Major League Cricket (MLC) but couldn't find consistency.
The team's biggest match-winner at the 2024 men's T20 World Cup Saurabh Netravalkar has been given a paternal leave so he could be with his wife and firstborn. Netravalkar missed a few games at the MLC to be with his wife during the birth but still ended up as the highest wicket-taker, picking up 15 scalps in seven matches.
Senior middle-order batter Andries Gous has also been granted a paternal leave for the ODI leg. This opened the gates for former India under-19 wicketkeeper-batter Smit Patel to get into the squad.
Milind's indifferent performance at the MLC seemed to have gone against him while Nisarg hasn't been able to do anything of note recently. Meanwhile, former India Under-19 captain Unmukt Chand would feel hard done by because his improved MLC and domestic performances haven't been rewarded.
The tour will begin on August 13.
