The two semifinals of the Buchi Babu Cricket Tournament 2024 came to a conclusion on Thursday, September 5. Hyderabad Cricket Association defeated TNCA Presidents XI in one of the semis to seal one spot in the finals.

Batting first, Hyderabad charted 313 in the first innings before bowlers conceded a 14-run first innings lead. Later in the match, half-centuries from Rohith Rayudu and C V Milind helped Hyderabad declare on 273/9 and set up a 260-run target for the Presidents XI. In the decisive innings of the match, bowlers Tanay Thyagarajan (5/62) and Aniketh Reddy (4/59) hogged the limelight with the ball to seal a huge 64-run win for Hyderabad.

In the second semifinal, Chhattisgarh walloped 467 in the first innings courtesy of a sublime century from Prateek Yadav and 90s from Amandeep Khare and Anuj Tiwari.

In response, the TNCA XI first innings was restricted to just 194 by Chhattisgarh bowlers Gagandeep Singh (4/34) and Shashank Tiwari (2/18). Emboldened by a huge 273-run advantage, Chhattisgarh made another 207/8 before they were declared winners on the basis of acquiring a first innings lead.

Anuj Tiwari soared into top 10 and claimed the number one spot among the leading run-scorers after his cracking knocks in the semifinal for Chhattisgarh. With 335 runs from three matches, he is leading his teammate Ayush Pandey (329 runs) by six runs. Indrajith B, with 323 runs from four innings, slipped from the top to take the third position on the run-scoring charts.

Chhattisgarh teammates Prateek Yadav (316 runs) and Amandeep Khare (305 runs) also jumped into top 10 at number four and five, respectively after their semifinal specials against TNCA XI. Pratham Singh (304 runs), Jaymeet Patel (281 runs) and Andre Siddarth C (276 runs) all lost four rungs each to slip to number six, seven and eight in that order on the batting table.

They are followed by Mohamed Ali S at number nine with 272 runs from five innings at an average of over 54. Dheeru Singh rounds up the top 10 charts with 245 runs after losing his fifth position.

Hyderabad’s Tanay Thyagarajan jumped from number five to take the top spot among the leading wicket-takers after his 12-wicket haul for Hyderabad in the semifinal. Siddharth M, with 22 wickets, slipped to number two on the table at the expense of Thyagarajan. He is followed by Lakshay Jain S (18 wickets), who jumped into top 10 to take the third position after bagging twin five-fers in the semis.

Sai Kishore R, with 17 wickets, lost two rungs to slip to number four on the table. Aniketh Reddy rose three steps to take the fifth position with 15 wickets. He is followed by Siddharth Desai and Abid Mushtaq at number six and seven, respectively for taking 14 wickets each.

Sahil Lotra and Ayan Chaudhary lost two rungs each to occupy the eighth and ninth positions on the table. Gagandeep Singh takes the final spot on the top 10 standings with 12 wickets from four innings.
