Former England skipper Michael Vaughan believes Joe Root only has one thing left to accomplish in his career as far as batting feats go. The 49-year-old feels the right-hander needs that big hundred in Australia to solidify his legacy and backs him to achieve it in the next tour.
Having toured Australia for the first time with the England team during the 2013-14 Ashes series, Root is yet to score a century Down Under. The 33-year-old has played 14 Tests in Australia, managing 892 runs with nine half-centuries alongside a best of 89.
Vaughan remarked on BBC Test Match Special:
"The only thing that's missing in his game is that big hundred in Australia. But I can't imagine he won't get three figures in the Ashes next year in Australia."
Day 3 of the second Test match against Sri Lanka at the Lord's Cricket Ground saw Root cement his legacy in England's red-ball history on August 31. With his 34th Test ton, the Yorkshire batter has gone past Sir Alastair Cook's tally of most centuries for England.

Vaughan heaped praise on Root's technique, observing the risk-free approach to things. The 2005 Ashes-winning captain also noted the right-hander's ability to pick the gap on any side of the wicket.
"It's not been through crash, bang, wallop. It's been through pure technique and ability. He is the greatest because he's a wonderful role model as well. He's a fantastic person and a great player. The opposition pretty much always have to have four fielders behind square on the off side because he's just so good."

England, who lead the three-match series 1-0 against Sri Lanka, have edged ahead at Lord's too after setting a 483-run target. The visitors were 53-2 after the end of Day 3.
