The Indian Premier League (IPL) players will now get an additional match fee of ₹7.5 lakh apart from the contracted salary by the franchise from the upcoming edition of the tournament, confirmed BCCI secretary Jay Shah on Saturday (September 28). In his announcement on X, Shah confirmed that players who play all league games in an IPL season would get ₹1.05 crore as match fees. The price might increase if the team makes it to the playoffs.
Shah confirmed that each franchise will allocate ₹12.60 separately for its players. The announcement comes as a massive boost for both Indian and overseas domestic players, who earn in the range between ₹20 lakh to ₹50 lakh like Ashutosh Singh, Ashutosh Sharma (both Punjab Kings), and Mayank Yadav (Lucknow Super Giants), among others.
Jay Shah, who will replace Greg Barclay as the new ICC chief in December, wrote on X:
"In a historic move to celebrate consistency and champion outstanding performances in the #IPL, we are thrilled to introduce a match fee of INR 7.5 lakhs per game for our cricketers! A cricketer playing all league matches in a season will get Rs. 1.05 crores in addition to his contracted amount."

Five retentions and one RTM card for IPL 2025 - Reports
As per ESPNcricinfo, there will be five retentions and one Right to Match (RTM) card option for the 10 franchises in the IPL 2025 auction. This remains to be confirmed on how many Indian and overseason players will be allowed in the aforementioned slab. The overall purse is likely to be around ₹120 crore.
In the previous retention window, the capped players were kept in the slabs of ₹16 crore, ₹12 crore, ₹8 crore, and ₹6 crore, respectively. The uncapped players were contracted in the ₹4 crore slab.
The official announcement regarding IPL 2025 retentions is likely to be made in the next few days. The new rules will also decide MS Dhoni's future in IPL as the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) reportedly aim to retain him in the uncapped player category as he completes five years of retirement from international cricket.
