River Rine Club thrashed Gauhati Town Club by 66 runs in the 13th match of the 2024 Assam T20 Pride Cup at the Nehru Stadium, Guwahati, on Sunday, September 8. A 168-run target seemed insurmountable for Ankurjyoti Club as New Star Club handed them a 51-run defeat in the 14th game.

River Rine Club, after a resounding win over Gauhati Town Club, are atop the standings with four wins and a loss in five matches. They have amassed eight points with a net run rate (NRR) of +0.970.

After defeating Ankurjyoti Club, New Star Club catapulted to the second position from fourth with seven points in five matches and a net run rate of +0.782. City Cricket Club moved down one place, occupying the third position with five points and a net run rate of +0.734.

Gauhati Town Club, with five points in five games, are fourth. A slightly inferior net run rate of -0.412 meant Gauhati slipped one spot. Bud Cricket Club have won and lost two games apiece. With four points and a net run rate of -0.518, they remain fifth.

Ankurjyoti Club have had a sorry campaign, losing all five league-stage fixtures so far. They languish in the sixth position with zero points and an abysmal net run rate of -1.444.

River Rine, New Star shine with commanding wins in a field day for teams batting first

River Rine Club opener Wasiqur Rahman top scored (77 off 65) to help his side post 133/7 against Gauhati Town Club in the first encounter of the day. Gauhati's Mantu Yadav (4/24) helped his team restrict Rive Rine for a below-par score.

However, things didn't pan out the way the Gauhati-based club expected, as they were bowled out for a mere 67 in just 16.3 overs. The duo of Abhilash Gogoi (3/7) and Aman Chetry (3/12) won the game for Rive Rine Club with a sizable margin of 66 runs.

Meanwhile, the likes of Mahmood Habibullah (56 off 33), Arun Sonar (42 off 31), and Kala Raiza (44* off 33) chipped in to put together 167/5 in the first 20 overs for the New Star Club against Ankurjyoti Club in the second game of the day.

Chasing 168, Victor Kashyap (48 off 55) top scored for Ankurjyoti, but his effort went in vain as they extended their horror run of form in this match, handing the New Star Club a 51-run win in the 14th match of the tournament.

Imran Sheikh (2/20) scalped two while his teammates Piyush Kamati, Mudassir Alam, and Kalam Raiza snared one wicket apiece, restricting Ankurjyoti to 116/5 in 20 overs.
