The 2024 Assam T20 Pride Cup saw a double header play out at the Nehru Stadium, Gujarat, on Friday, September 6.

New Star Club and River Rine Club locked horns in the first match of the day, with New Star emerging triumphant by six wickets.

The day continued to favor teams batting second as the City Cricket Club cruised through the target in hand, beating Bud Cricket Club with eight wickets and a total of seven deliveries to spare.

With each passing game, the tournament continues to progressively become competitive. Let's see how the teams are poised on the points leaderboard:

Gauhati Town Club continues to lead the proceeding in the 2024 Assam T20 Pride Cup with five points in three matches.They occupy the top spot undefeated so far this season with a net run rate of +1.245.

River Rine Club retains the second spot on the standings with two wins in three matches. A total of four points and a net run rate of +0.230 puts the River Rine Club in a comfortable position, potentially challenging for the top spot in the games to come.

After outplaying their opponents in the first encounter of the day, New Star Club jumped to the third position from fourth with four points in four matches. They have scored as many points as River Rine Club, but an inferior net run rate of -0.140 places them third.

With two wins and two losses so far in this tournament, Bud Cricket Club is the only other team to have amassed a total of four points in this stage of the competition. After their loss against City Cricket Club earlier in the day, they slipped down to the fourth position with a net run rate of -0.518.

City Cricket Club increased their tally of points from one to three after a commanding win over Bud Cricket Club.They continue to remain in the fifth position with three points in three matches and a net run rate of 0.148.

Ankurjyoti Club are yet to get started on the points front, losing all three of their league stage games. They languish at the bottom of the points table with zero points and a net run rate of -0.657, lying in the sixth position.


New Star, City Cricket win their respective encounters batting second

A holistic bowling performance by New Star bowlers helped their team restrict River Rine Club for a well below-par score of 109 in 19.5 overs. Dipankar Gogi, Imran Sheikh, Mudassir Alam, and Kalam Raiza snared two wickets apiece for New Star Club, while Rajib Das ended his spell with a solitary wicket.

Batting at a strike rate of 133.33, New Star opener Mahmood Habibullah’s 42-ball 56 was accompanied with four boundaries and four towering maximums to hand Rive Rine Club a six-wicket loss with close to a dozen deliveries to spare.

Shifting our focus to the second game of the day, the Bud Cricket Club could only manage to put together 105/8 in their 20 overs. The City Cricket bowling duo of Chandradeep Das (3/17) and Tajinder Singh (3/16) alongside teammate Sanjib Barman (2/23) pounced over the Bud batting lineup.

With just 106 runs to get in 20 overs, City Cricket Club batters Sanjib Barman (39 off 46) and Angshuman Katoni (38 off 35) seemed to be in no hurry to finish the game, comfortably ending up on the winning side with eight wickets in hand.
