New Star Club secured a two-wicket win against City Cricket Club in the 17th match of Assam T20 Pride Cup 2024 while Bud CC bagged a four-wicket victory against Gauhati Town Club in the 18th encounter.

In the first game of the day, City Cricket Club were tasked to bat first after losing the toss. Sanjib Barman, the opening batter, scored 32 runs in 30 balls while Shaan Singh Rana racked up 36 runs in 21 balls with four fours and two sixes.

Eventually, they could post a below-par total of 119/7 in 20 overs. Kalam Raiza scalped two wickets, conceding 25 runs in four overs for New Star Club.

The chase was an intense one. New Star Club were in all sorts of trouble at 13/4 in 3.2 overs. However, Mudassir Alam (33) resurrected the innings with a decent knock with three boundaries.

When 19 runs were needed in the last over, lower middle-order batter Imran Sheikh fancied his chances, scoring four consecutive maximums to take his side over the line with two wickets in hand. Pankaj Rai's four-fer went in vain for CCC.

In the second match of the day, Gauhati Town Club opted to bat first. Bishal Sharma scored 39 runs with six boundaries. Captain Yuvraj Tewari added 22 crucial runs in 25 balls with one four and a six.

Ultimately, they got bundled out for 88 runs in 19.3 overs with Sanjib Dutta picking up a three-fer. Arup Das, Pranjal Bharali, and Tushar Saha scalped a wicket apiece.

Bud CC, in response, finished off the game in 14.3 overs with four wickets in hand. Opener Abhilash Kumar shined with 31 runs in 21 balls with three fours and two sixes. No. 3 batter Vikash Yadav scored 22 runs in 16 balls while keeper-batter Bikash Kumar took the side over the line with 16* runs.

Gauhati batter Bishal Sharma ascended from the seventh to the top spot with 152 runs from six innings. City's batter Sanjib Barman moved up from fifth to second spot with 148 runs from five innings.

River Rine batter Wasiqur Rahman slid from the top to third position with 148 runs. Gauhati’s Arnab Borah retained his fourth spot with 131 runs from six innings. Victor Kashyap descended from second to fifth spot with 126 runs.

Yogesh Tiwari glided down from third to sixth position with 124 runs. Md Habibullah slipped from the sixth to seventh slot, scoring 115 runs. Yuvraj Tewari ascended from the 10th to eighth spot, accumulating 111 runs.

Arun Sonar (100) and Angshuman Katoni (96) slipped one spot each to secure the ninth and 10th positions respectively.

Gauhati bowlers Kangkan Talukdar (11) and Mantu Yadav (9) retained their top and second spots. Bikash Chetri, the River Rine bowler, maintained his third position with eight scalps. Bud CC bowler Bhaskar Kalita (7) holds the fourth spot.

Tushar Saha moved up from the seventh to the fifth spot with seven scalps at 15.71. Gauhati's Nishchay Sharma moved up from eighth to sixth position with seven wickets at 19.43.

Amit Sinha (6) and Aman Chetry (6) slid two slots each to the seventh and eighth positions, respectively. Romario Sharma ascended from the 11th to the ninth position with six wickets at 10 while Chandradeep Das, the City bowler, moved up from 18th to the 10th spot with six wickets.
