The ACC T20 Emerging Teams Asia Cup 2024 is all set to take place from October 18 to 27. The Al Amerat Cricket Ground in Muscat, Oman will host the much-anticipated eight-team tournament, consisting of future stars. The tournament will be held in the T20 format for the first time.
United Arab Emirates, Afghanistan A, India A, Bangladesh A, Oman, Hong Kong, Pakistan A and Sri Lanka A will participate in the competition.
Interestingly, the United Arab Emirates, Oman and Hong Kong qualified for the tournament through their impressive performances in the 2024 ACC Men's Premier Cup. India A are clubbed with Pakistan A, UAE and Oman in Group A.
The last edition of the continental event saw Pakistan A secure a 128-run victory against India to lift the title. Avishka Fernando (255) and Nishant Sindhu (11) were the top batter and wicket-taker, respectively.
So far, there have been only five editions (2013, 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2023) of the competition, with Pakistan and Sri Lanka winning twice and India securing a solitary title victory.
Eight teams are divided into two groups and each of them will play three games in the league stage, followed by the semi-finals and finals.
India A will be led by left-hander Tilak Varma while opening batter Abhishek Sharma will be his deputy. The team has the presence of skilled spinners, Rahul Chahar and Sai Kishore.
Talented wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Haris has been announced as Pakistan A’s skipper. He will have the support of pacers Shahnawaz Dahani and Zaman Khan.
