"Absolute brutal elegance at its best"- Nasser Hussain hails Rohit Sharma's blitz in IND vs AUS T20 World Cup match

Australia v India: Super Eight - ICC Men
Rohit Sharma won the Player of the Match award for his sensational effort.

Former England captain Nasser Hussain claimed that Indian captain Rohit Sharma's carnage against Australia was among the greatest white-ball knocks. Rohit smashed 92 runs off just 41 balls as the Men in Blue beat the Aussies in St Lucia by 24 runs on Monday, June 24.

Hussain talked about Rohit's demolition of Mitchell Starc and the eye-catching slog-sweep to Pat Cummins that landed on the stadium's roof. Speaking on Sky Sports, here's what Nasser Hussain had to say about Rohit Sharma's knock:

"That was one of the great white-ball innings I have seen, what he did against Australia. Elegant, absolute brutal elegance at its best. Taking down Starc, slog-sweeping Cummins, inside out shot over cover. That was visually one of the best innings visually I have ever seen. It was outstanding."

Nasser Hussain recalled how Rohit Sharma had told the host broadcaster before the game against Australia that his focus wasn't on milestones but on how quickly he could score runs. The former cricketer hailed the Indian captain for being true to his words.

Nasser Hussain on mentality shift brought by Rohit Sharma

Team India had been comprehensively beaten by 10 wickets by England in the T20 World Cup 2022 semifinal in Adelaide. The Men in Blue had been criticized for being too conservative in their approach and Nasser Hussain felt that defeat was the turning point.

The former England captain shed light on how Rohit led the way in the ODI World Cup last year with his ultra-attacking brand of cricket and now in the West Indies leg of the T20 World Cup. He stated:

"I think the change in mentality happened after that World T20 semifinal in Adelaide and that was noticeable in India in the 50-over World Cup and it was definitely noticeable as they have moved away from New York. As some of their batters have gotten confidence, they have gone back to that mentality and it is completely led by Rohit Sharma."

India have a chance to avenge their defeat from two years ago as they take on England in the T20 World Cup semifinal in Guyana on Thursday, June 27.
