The United States took on South Africa in the 41st match of the 2024 T20 World Cup on Wednesday, June 19, at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in North Sound, Antigua. The United States won the toss and elected to bowl.

South Africa lost their first wicket early in the match in the form of Reeza Hendricks. Then, Quinton de Kock and Aiden Markram stitched a partnership of 110 runs for the second wicket, and laid a strong foundation for the Proteas. De Kock scored 74 runs off just 40 deliveries, including seven fours and five sixes.

South Africa finished with 194 runs for the loss of four wickets in 20 overs. Saurabh Netravalkar and Harmeet Singh took two wickets each for the United States.

In response, the United States lost their first five wickets inside 100 runs. Andries Gous and Harmeet added 91 runs for the sixth wicket. The match went to the last over, where the United States required 26 runs to win. They managed to score seven runs in the last over and lost the match by 18 runs.

Gous remained unbeaten on 80 runs off 47 deliveries, with five fours and as many sixes. Kagiso Rabada was the pick of the bowlers for South Africa and took three wickets for 18 runs in four overs.

Marcus Stoinis has moved to fourth place from third and has scored 148 runs in three innings at a strike rate of 189.74.

Ibrahim Zadran has slipped to fifth position from fourth and has amassed 152 runs in four matches at an average of 38.

Travis Head has slipped to sixth place from fifth and has made 148 runs in four outings at an average of 49.33.

Aaron Jones has moved to seventh position from sixth and has 141 runs to his name in four matches at a strike rate of 160.22.
