England took on the West Indies in the 42nd match of the 2024 T20 World Cup on Thursday, June 20, at the Daren Sammy National Cricket Stadium in Gros Islet, St Lucia. England won the toss and elected to bowl.

Johnson Charles and Brandon King provided a solid start for the West Indies. They added 40 runs for the first wicket before King (23) had to retire hurt with a groin injury. The next set of batters had a decent outing in the middle. They helped the West Indies reach a total of 180 runs for the loss of four wickets.

Johnson Charles made 38 runs off 34 deliveries and was the leading run-scorer for the West Indies in this match. Jofra Archer, Adil Rashid, Moeen Ali, and Liam Livingstone took one wicket each for England.

Jos Buttler and Philip Salt added 67 runs for the first wicket for England before Buttler (25 off 22) departed. Moeen Ali was the next to get out and he made 13 runs off 10 deliveries. England didn’t have any trouble from that point and reached the target of 181 runs quite comfortably in 17.3 overs.

Salt remained unbeaten on 87* off 47 deliveries and won the Player of the Match award. Andre Russell and Roston Chase picked one wicket each for the West Indies.
