South Africa have attained the top position in the 2024 T20 World Cup points table for Group 2 after a comfortable win against the USA. The Proteas scored 194/4 in 20 overs and then restricted their opponents to 176/6 to record an 18-run win.

This victory has helped South Africa open their account in the Super 8s round. They now have two points from one match in Group 2, with their net run rate being +0.900.

The USA are second in the 2024 T20 World Cup points table for Group 2 at the moment with zero points and a negative net run rate of -0.900. The next two matches against England and West Indies are virtual do-or-die games for the United States.

England and the West Indies will play their respective first matches of the Super 8 round shortly against each other. The match will begin at 6.00 am IST at the Daren Sammy National Stadium in Gros Islet.

Can West Indies jump to number 1 spot in 2024 T20 World Cup points table for Group 2?

The West Indies finished as the table-toppers in the Group C of the first round. The home team defeated Afghanistan, New Zealand, Uganda, and Papua New Guinea to earn eight points from four matches. They will aim to continue in the same vein when they go head-to-head against England, who suffered one defeat in the group stage.

Defending champions England lost against Australia, while their match against Scotland was abandoned due to rain. The Jos Buttler-led side sneaked into the Super 8s after big wins over Namibia and Oman. They will try to improve their performance and bring their 'A' game to the table against an in-form West Indies team.

If the margin of victory is big, the winner of this game can rise to the top of the table. It will be exciting to see which team emerges victorious.
