Major League Cricket (MLC 2024) tournament got underway with a match between defending champions MI New York and last season's runners-up Seattle Orcas. Four other franchises, namely Los Angeles Knight Riders, Texas Super Kings, Washington Freedom, and San Francisco Unicorns are also a part of this competition.

MLC started last year in the USA, to popularize the game in the United States. With the T20 World Cup happening in the USA and West Indies last month, more Americans know about cricket than ever before, and the second season of MLC can be a mega-hit.

Some of the biggest names of T20 cricket like Quinton de Kock, Heinrich Klaasen, Rashid Khan, Nicholas Pooran, Trent Boult, Tim David, Kieron Pollard, Steve Smith, Corey Anderson, Lockie Ferguson, Faf du Plessis, Mitchell Santner, Daryl Mitchell, Sunil Narine, Andre Russell, and Anrich Nortje are a part of MLC 2024.

Just like the first season, all teams will play against each other once in MLC league stage. There will be 21 league games, taking place from July 4 to 23 (July 5 to 24 in India). The playoffs will begin on July 24, with the final scheduled for July 28.
