Major League Cricket is back for its second edition in 2024 after a successful debut season in 2023. The upcoming Major League Cricket 2024 tournament is scheduled to start on Saturday, July 6. MI New York emerged as the champions in the first edition of the Major League Cricket.
Six teams will compete in a round-robin format this season, playing 21 matches in total. The initial 15 games will be held at Church Street Park and Grand Prairie Stadium, with the remaining group stage fixtures and knockout matches taking place at Grand Prairie Stadium in Texas.
The six teams will face each other once in the league stage. The top four teams will then advance to the playoffs. The victorious teams from the knockout matches will then battle it out in the final.
Out of six teams, four are owned by franchises of the Indian Premier League. The six teams are MI New York, Texas Super Kings, LA Knight Riders, Seattle Orcas, San Francisco, and Washington Freedom.
The season opener for Major League Cricket 2024 will feature a Championship rematch between defending champions MI New York and the Seattle Orcas on Saturday, July 6, in Morrisville. The Texas Super Kings will then take on the LA Knight Riders at Grand Prairie Stadium on the same evening.
MLC has put together a strong team of commentators for the upcoming season, including well-known cricket figures like Sunil Gavaskar, Wasim Akram, Danny Morrison, Daren Ganga, Pommie Mbangwa, Matthew Hayden, Chris Morris, Natalie Germanos, Scott Styris, and Mike Haysman.
Major League Cricket 2024: When to watch?
Major League Cricket 2024 is scheduled to start on Saturday, July 6. The first day of the tournament will feature a double-header. The next and the only double-header will be played on Monday, July 15.
Nine matches will be played at Church Street Park in Morrisville. The remaining 16 games, including the playoffs and final, will be played at Grand Prairie Stadium in Dallas. The tournament will conclude on Monday, July 29.
