In this listicle, we will look at five of the most explosive comments made by the Indian leg-spinner during his latest interview.

#1 Amit Mishra says Shubman Gill is not captaincy material

Young Indian batter Shubman Gill made his IPL captaincy debut for Gujarat Titans earlier this year and led the team to impressive wins over Mumbai Indians, Chennai Super Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad. He became India's captain for the recent series against Zimbabwe and guided the Men in Blue to a 4-1 series win.

Although Gill has impressed several cricket fans with his leadership skills, Mishra felt that he is not someone who should have become India's captain.

"Mai Shubman ko captain nahi banaunga, kyunki maine usey IPL me dekha, he doesn't know ki captaincy kaise karna hai, uske paas captaincy ka idea hi nahi hai. (I would not have made him the captain. You saw the IPL this season, Gill doesn't know how to captain the side, he is clueless)," Mishra said.

#2 Amit Mishra says Virat Kohli has changed a lot after gaining fame

Amit Mishra knew Virat Kohli even before he became a superstar in world cricket. Having spent time with Kohli then and now, Mishra observed a big change in his behavior. Sharing the details of his relationship with Kohli, Mishra said:

"I won't lie. As a cricketer, I respect him Kohli a lot, but I don't share the same equation with him as I used to. Why does Virat have less friends? His and Rohit's natures are different."

Mishra further added that his relationship with Rohit Sharma is still the same as it was when they first met. He asked the host if a person would like someone who remained the same after gaining everything or who changed after becoming successful.

#3 Amit Mishra describes how age fraud worked in Indian cricket

Age fraud was one of the biggest issues in Indian cricket in the past. Amit Mishra disclosed that during the early days of his career, his coach changed his age so he could play at age-group level for a longer time.

"Let me tell you, I have a one-year discrepancy, and my coach helped with that. I didn't even know about it. The coach called my home and asked for one more year for me. It was quite an emotional story. I was surprised and asked, 'How?' He said, 'From today, you are one year younger; now you have two more years.' I agreed," Mishra narrated.

It is pertinent to note that Mumbai Indians star Rohit Sharma also joked about Mishra's age when they met during the IPL season earlier this year.

#4 Amit Mishra on why Sanju Samson may not play T20 World Cup 2026

Sanju Samson is one of the top wicketkeeper-batters in India right now. He leads Rajasthan Royals in the IPL. Besides, he was a part of the T20 World Cup 2024-winning squad and also played the vice-captain's role in recent T20I matches against Zimbabwe.

Samson is just 29 years old right now, and the next T20 World Cup is in 2026. Surprisingly though, Mishra opined that Samson will not be selected because he would be old by then.

"I don't think so. He is old now. There is such a heavy influx of youngsters in the team this concept was introduced by Virat Kohli – that in T20Is, young players perform more, India need them more. He himself is 35," Mishra said.

#5 Amit Mishra blames Virat Kohli for the RCB vs LSG controversy in IPL 2023

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) vs Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) proved to be the most entertaining rivalry in IPL 2023. The two RCB vs LSG games provided enough thrill in the battle between bat and ball, and to add to that, the heated arguments between players and support staff members of the two teams made it more intense.

Amit Mishra was a part of the LSG playing XI in the reverse fixture hosted by Lucknow. LSG's aggressive celebrations after the win in Bengaluru irked Virat Kohli, and he decided to give it back to them on their home turf a few days ago.

After the match, there was a huge fight between Kohli, Gautam Gambhir, Naveen-ul-Haq, and Kyle Mayers. Mishra blamed Kohli for the fight and said:

"We thought the matter ended with the game but not for Kohli. He started abusing our players (in the LSG vs RCB rematch in Lucknow). He didn't have any grudges with Kyle Mayers but he abused him as well. Naveen-ul-Haq was bowling, he would abuse him too."

Mishra concluded by saying that Kohli should not have done anything after the game ended because RCB had taken their revenge by winning the contest.
