The fourth edition of the Global T20 Canada is scheduled to start on Friday, July 26, and will conclude on Sunday, August 11. A total of six teams will participate in the competition. Each team will play a total of seven matches.
A total of 25 matches will be played in the tournament. All these matches will be hosted at the CAA Centre in Brampton, Ontario.
The six teams are: Surrey Jaguars, Vancouver Knights, Montreal Tigers, Bangla Tigers Mississauga, Toronto Nationals, and Brampton Wolves.
David Warner, Shakib Al Hasan, Chris Lynn, and Sunil Narine have been appointed the captains of Brampton Wolves, Bangla Tigers Mississauga, Montreal Tigers, and Surrey Jaguars, respectively.
Mohammad Rizwan, Babar Azam and Shaheen Shah Afridi were picked by the Toronto Nationals and the Vancouver Knights in the players draft. Rizwan was appointed the captain of the Toronto Nationals. However, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has denied the NOC to the trio, citing workload management.
Montreal Tigers won the last edition of the Global T20 Canada. They defeated Surrey Jaguars in the final in 2023 by five wickets after chasing down the target of 131 runs on the last delivery of the innings. Sherfane Rutherford scored 38 runs off 29 deliveries and won the Player of the Match award. Rutherford made 220 runs in the tournament to grab the Player of the Series award as well.
